What's in a Name?

Winning

Team

CG

Words have power. So does intention. We wanted our group to focus on what we wanted to experience. Winning. Every resource we had went into this focus, and all members of our team were coached to focus on the positive and look for the win. It was how we could get through the situations that this health journey presented and rally the underlying energy to work in our favour.

There is no possible way we could have survived, let alone moved forward, without a team. The scope and size of this team was not something anyone, including us could have imagined, when we chose the name. By including “Team” in our name, we hoped to acknowledge that the people helping us were part of something bigger than their individual action or contribution.

Full Disclosure: the letters CG, which represent Carling and Colton Gill’s initials, weren’t added to the name at first.  We picked the website thewininningteam.org because the .com version of it was taken by a race car site (we move fast, but not that fast!) So, this was a way to again, focus the Team on Winning and even more specifically, winning for Carling and Colton.

Some who haven’t been coached as to the focus of The Winning Team CG may think, but probably not say it directly “but both Carling and Colton died…doesn’t that mean you lost?” This thought is understandable, but not accurate. The name isn’t “The Survival Team.”  They didn’t come to survive. The kids came to Win. The Team existed to help make that happen. Since Winning was the focus, we dug in, found whatever a win might be for each situation, and celebrated. It’s a great way to live and champion a really tough journey.

Lori Wilson, Aunt and Founder of InnerAccess101.com said it best: “being on the Winning Team is an honour. Unfortunately, we don’t always get to pick what (every) win looks like.”

Welcome to the Winning Team. Thank you for joining us. The journey continues!
