Our Approach
Our approach was an integrative medical model – drawing from the resources of both traditional Western Medicine (sometimes referred to as Allopathic) and Complementary Medicine (also referred to as Naturopathic, or Holistic).
The choice to travel this path was made on the day we finally got a diagnosis for Carling, which in itself took 1.5 years to obtain. Our respected Neurologist struggled as she shared the words “no treatment, no cure. A life expectancy of nine years. All we can offer you is seizure medication and bereavement counselling.” Carling had five years before she was nine. If there was anything out there in the vast world that might work—we vowed to find it, all while keeping her as healthy as possible so her options would be open.
We needed to build our own team. It evolved over the years, but the foundation from the start was three groups:
1. Healing
The Healing Team is comprised of practitioners who worked to treat & improve Carling & Colton’s health and well-being.
The Development Team is comprised of practitioners and service workers who helped stimulate or improve development, whether that be physical, mental, social, or some other form.
The Support Team is the broadest reaching group of our team, who in any way supported our efforts. It includes a wide variety of groups, organizations, companies and individuals. Some who may not even know the impact or support that they contributed.
